Materials
Our products are fabricated and finished by hand; variations in size, shape, and color are a natural result of this process. Variations in surface texture and color are part of the intrinsic nature of steel plate, wood, leather and stone. For samples: email us at hello@rowanoake.com
White oak with a deep black tint. Not completely vanta-level black, but certainly qualifies as ‘murdered out’.
Hand-applied patina to steel with an oil and wax satin protective coat. This is our primary metal finish on all our pieces.
Natural marble with a honed, soft finish. Available as a base option for the cocktail table.
Raw brass with a satin, brushed finish. The metal will naturally patina and darken beautifully with time.
Care
We use domestically sourced hardwoods, and they are all finished with a unique oil that bonds with the wood fibers. This finish is very durable and hard-wearing, but we recommend using a coaster or place mat on wood surfaces for longest life.
Do not place hot items directly on wood surfaces, use a trivet or hot pad.
Our blackened steel products are sealed by hand with oil and wax, which over time are not impervious to moisture. These finishes allow the metals to age naturally and develop their own character and patina through time and through use. Our blackened steel finish should not be installed outside, or in areas exposed to moisture indoors. If the steel gets wet, immediately dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Periodic maintenance of furniture items may be required. For light cleaning of steel and wood; they can be wiped with a slightly damp rag, and buffed immediately with a dry cloth. Never use bleach, ammonia, or other aggressive household cleansers. Something very mild like diluted Dawn dish-washing liquid is OK.
